The 10 Best Movies of 2018

The year is drawing to a close. There have been ups and there have been downs. What we can’t deny is that there have been some incredible movies released this year. From actions, to horrors, to romantic films, there have been films released to suit every taste.

While there might be one or two blockbusters still waiting to be released before the year ends, here are the best movies released in 2018 so far.

Avengers Infinity War

Infinity War is the accumulation of all the Marvel films to date. The Avengers come together, along with Guardians of the Galaxy and other allies to defeat Thanos who is on a war path, looking to put an end to the universe once he obtains all six infinity stones. The movie spans across the whole Marvel Universe, and all the characters come to play.

The movie contains more action and fight scenes than you can handle, as well as love and heart break. It is the deadliest showdown ever to take place in the Marvel Universe, with everyone taking part. It is the perfect accumulation to ten years of films, a long time coming.

Crazy Rich Asians

Crazy Rich Asians is based on a global bestseller, and tells the story of Rachel Chu, a New York native, who needs to travel to Singapore to meet her boyfriends family. When she arrives in Singapore, she meets up with old friends. When she tells them she is dating Nick Young, they are shocked. Unbeknown to her, the Young family has a huge fortune and is a high-society family. She becomes concerned that his family and friends will judge her, as she doesn’t feel to be in the same class as them.

Rachel has to learn to fit into this new world, or find a way out of it. Her relationship is at risk, and she needs to decide whether or not Nick is worth the trouble that their relationship will cause. It is a feel good romance movie that is a great pick-me-up.

Hereditary

This is said to be the scariest movie in 2018. The family matriarch passes away, and the family is left grieving. Their grieving is cut short when they start to notice strange occurrences around the house. These soon develop into a full haunting, which unravels to reveal dark and sinister secrets.

Toni Collette, Milly Shapiro and Gabriel Byrne star in this horror film. Share your reviews if you manage to sit through the whole movie!

Incredibles 2

This was one of the most anticipated movies of 2018, from viewers young and old. Everybody fell in love with the Parr family in the first Incredible movie, so a sequel was just so exciting. Bob Parr, Mr Incredible, has to stay at home and take care of the children and the housework, while mom Helen, Elastigirl, needs to venture out to save the world.

Catch up with everyone’s favourite superhero family and follow them on their new, crazy adventures, as all family members do their bit to save the day.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

There really cannot  be anyone around who doesn’t just love the Jurassic World franchise. The movies are absolute classics, which is why this was one of the most anticipated films of the year.

The dormant volcano on the Jurassic Park island starts firing up to life. Owen and Claire work together to rescue the animals left behind, saving them from the extinction the volcano would cause. This isn’t a simple task however, there are dinosaurs on the island that would much rather shred them to bits than be transported off the island.

The movie stays true to the Jurassic World empire and comes with all the danger and action you could ask for.

Deadpool 2

Deadpool is the mercenary we love, although he actually isn’t loveable at all. Wade Wilson (Deadpool) returns in this sequel to bring together a team of rogue mutants to help protect a young boy who has supernatural powers. He is being hunted by a time-traveling cyborg named Cable, who is brutal in his quest to find the young boy.

Deadpool shows his softer side by trying to save the innocent boy, but still keeping the innuendo and perverted sense of humour that everyone fell in love with.

Ant-Man and the Wasp

Who would have thought that Ant-Man would be such a hit, but here we are in the time of superheroes, and he is making a come-back.

Scott Lang (Ant-Man) needs to balance his roles as a father and super hero, and needs to team up with the Wasp in order to uncover secrets from their past. He is put on the mission by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank, who help him control his abilities along the way.

Ocean’s 8

This all female-crew takes on an impossible heist at the yearly Met Gala held in New York. It is a wonderfully tasty twist on the original Ocean’s franchise and really does justice to the original films.

There is action, but carried out in style, and the actresses nail their roles as super-thieves.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout

No matter how long the Mission Impossible movies keep going, they never disappoint. Tom Cruise does an outstanding job in the new instalment of the movies.

Ethan Hunt, with some allies, enter a race against time to rescue the world after a mission goes wrong and a villain is on the loose.

The Spy Who Dumped Me

Milla Kunis and Kate McKinnon come together to deliver this comedy. It has a bit of action and adventure as well.

Best friends Audrey and Morgan become tied up in an international conspiracy when one of them discovers their ex boyfriend who recently dumped her is actually a spy.

It is a light-hearted, fun movie to watch and the two are such a great pair on screen.
