What TV Shows you can watch staying indoors this winter?

Van Wyck has reviewed, as what will be available to watch on Netflix this winter season making South African all cozy staying indoors and having fun. Here is his list and the reviews:

Stranger Things

Stranger Things is an award-winning American TV series directed by the Duffer Brothers and released in July 2016. Serving us a chilling mix of science fiction and horror, the first season stars Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Funn Wolfhard, and an array of other more or less famous actors. The story revolves around a disappearance of a young boy in 1980s in a fictional town Hawkins, Indiana. The boy’s mother, his friends and the police will have to face supernatural creatures and events in order to find him and bring him back to safety. Will they succeed, or will the terrifying forces claim victory?

Narcos

Narcos is an American TV crime drama set in Colombia, which is also where the series was filmed. The true story of infamous and powerful Colombian drug cartels is told through the life of Pablo Escobar, the drug lord who became a billionaire through cocaine production and distribution. Season one, exclusive to Netflix, was aired in August 2015. It featured Wagner Moura as Escobar, the leader of Medellin Cartel chased by DEA agents Javier Pena (Pedro Pascal) and Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook). The cast further included Joanna Christie playing Steve’s wife Connie Murphy, Juan Pablo Raba acting as Escobar’s cousin Gustavo Gaviria,  Maurice Compte as the Colombian police chief Horacio Carrillo, Paulina Gaitan and Paulina Garcia as Escobar’s wife and mother.

Marvel Shows

If you are a Marvel fan then you have five good reasons to subscribe to the Netflix streaming service – Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders are available for streaming online right now, which means you’re a few clicks away from keeping up with the adventures of your favourite Marvel superhero across multiple seasons. Why these superheroes in particular? Well, Iron Man, Thor and Captain America have all gotten their films, and the much needed depth is added to the MCU through a secondary level of characters whose arcs you get to explore binge-watching episodes in your time off.

Mind Hunter

Mindhunter, the David Fincher-produced drama is about the man who pioneered the science of profiling serial killers. The show is based on the 1995 true crime book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit written by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker and it scored 8.6/10 on IMDB and 96% on the Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer. Starring Jonathan Groff as Holden Ford, special agent in the FBI’s Behavioural Science Unit, and Holt McCallany as his partner Bill Tench, Mindhunter focuses on the birth of criminal profiling within FBI in late-70s America. The duo awakens to the idea of using the minds of real-life killers to help stop similar criminal and monstrous activities happening in the future.

Star Trek: Discovery

Check out Star Trek: Discovery to see how things were 10 years before them! The aspiring sci-fi series follows the voyages of USS Discovery and its Starfleet officers as they explore new planets and new life forms, as the Klingons are waging war against the United Federation. The young Michael Burnham (played by the charismatic Sonequa Martin-Green) is in focus during one-hour-long 15 episodes and she provides plenty of nail-biting moments as she learns to understand alien-related events and herself at the same time. Star Trek: Discovery is the 6th live-action series set in the Star Trek universe and the 7th in total.

Designated Survivor

Have you ever though what would happen if all of the high Government officials in the US were killed at once? Who’d assume the office of president? Well, Americans have thought of everything and their solution to such a catastrophic situation is a ‘designated survivor’. An award-winning political action fantasy TV series assumes the term as its title, Designated Survivor, and introduces Golden Globe-winner and action-drama virtuoso Kiefer Sutherland as the main protagonist Tom Kirkman. The show was created and directed by David Guggenheim; it premiered on September 21st, 2016 on ABC and is now available on Netflix as one of Netflix Originals outside of North America.

Love Sick

Created by Tom Edge and formerly known as Scrotal Recall, Lovesick is a British TV comedy revolving around Dylan and his group of friends living in Scotland. Dylan is a guy who finds out that he has an STD and is now facing a task to call all his previous partners and inform them of the unpleasant diagnosis. Humour ensues. The premise may be head-scratching, but as it turns out Lovesick is one of the finest British romantic comedies we’ve had in years. Great shows are sometimes given bad names – that’s why Scrotal Recall was renamed upon its second season and its Netflix launch in 2016. Now praised as Lovesick, the British TV gem shouldn’t be cast away as another British Friends rip-off, because it’s not one.

Shooter

Those of you who never got around to watching that 2007 Mark Wahlberg movie called Shooter will be happy to know the story is broken down to 18 43-minute long episodes so far and more to come in a television drama series with the same name. Mark Wahlberg stays as the executive producer and the lead goes to Ryan Phillipe while the show bases its events on what is described in the Stephen Hunter novel Point of Impact.  The show focuses on the life of Bob Lee Swagger, a highly trained Force Recon Marine and a skilled marksman. He enjoys his retirement until a conspiracy brings him back into action. Falsely implicated in an assassination attempt on the President of the United States, Bob Lee Swagger is determined to protect his family and clear his name.

End of the F***ing world

The TV show The End of the F***ing World. Perhaps, is a comedy-drama with some dark moments, a black comedy-drama if you will. The genre may be a bit tricky, but the facts are that the show debuted on British Channel 4 before it dropped on Netflix on January 5th, 2018 and became available worldwide via stream. It has taken the audience by storm soon after and received critical acclaim.
