If you sport-bet in South Africa and are switching your sport-betting practices from in-person to online, there are some things you need to know. Most skills remain the same, but with the Internet as a resource, it is necessary to refresh yourself on what still works and what doesn’t.
Do’s and Don’ts of South Africa Sportstake
But before you begin, here is how to play the Sports Stake lotto in South Africa:
- Sportstake lottery in South Africa can be played by anyone who is 18 years or older
- Tickets may be bought in person at approved retailers, handheld partners and participating banks in South Africa.
- Tickets can be purchased online only by people who have an ABSA, FNB, Nedbank, or Standard Bank account or have registered on the South African National Lottery website and are residents of South Africa with a South African ID.
You can play sports take 13 by predicting the outcomes of 13 predetermined match fixtures drawn from English and other identified professional soccer fixtures across the globe. For each fixture, the player chooses their prediction by marking on the bet slip;
- [1] – for a home win
- [x] – for a draw
- [2] – for a home loss (Away win)
You can select a single or multiple outcome result for each fixture. A valid wager must consist of at least one selection per fixture. The minimum price per wager per board is R2.00 VAT, and the maximum wager per Betslip is R2000.00.
You can play PROPICK as a quick-play option without the Multi-Draw option. SPORTSTAKE 13 fixture results are considered the final score after 90 minutes of play or after extra time where applicable; however, they exclude penalty shoot-outs.
DO: Manage Your Money
This is undoubtedly the most important aspect of betting sports online and is often neglected. Make sure you are not betting more than you can afford to lose. If you are betting on sports, setting aside a certain portion of your money for betting is important.
Regardless if you lose or win, it’s prudent that you stick to what you promised you would bet. Many banks allow you to access your account online. Be careful with this convenience, and ensure you use it to keep yourself in check rather than overspend.
DON’T: Gamble While Under the Influence
This is an old rule that still applies. Alcohol clouds your judgment and usually helps you to make rash decisions you usually wouldn’t otherwise make.
Although this is easier to avoid online than in person (free drinks aren’t constantly given), it is no longer critical. To succeed at sports betting, you must operate with a clear mind. If you have had too much to drink, it is in your best interest to cease the betting until you are sober.
DO: Your Homework
If you want to bet smartly, you have to do your research. Be up to date on every sport and game. The Internet has a wealth of information you can use to have a stronger chance of beating the house. This is because sports book operators cannot follow the facts as you can.
DON’T: Forget to Check the Odds
Some sports books have better odds on parlays and teasers. When you are betting a large amount, the difference in odds translates into a huge difference in your payout. Many books are online and have their payout odds listed in a way that makes it easy for the better to find them.
DO: Bet at the Right Time
Depending on what you are betting on, betting at the right time will increase your chances of winning. For example, if you like an underdog, getting your bet in as late as possible is best. If you are going to go with a favourite, it is best to place your bet early in the week when the professionals are making their move.
To play the SportStake game, you must correctly predict the outcomes of a series of football matches. Usually, Sportstake players must correctly predict the outcomes of twelve predefined matches drawn from local South African, UK and other chosen pro soccer fixtures.
The total number of fixtures shall be set at thirteen (13). Results are recorded as the score after 90 (ninety) minutes and extra time (if applicable), excluding penalty shootout. There will be no Multi–Draw option for the SPORTSTAKE 13 Game as the SPORTSTAKE 13 Game cannot repeat the same fixture for the same Draw.
Each Selection is made by manually marking the selected outcome for all 13 fixtures and/or by marking the “Multi-Play box” if more than one outcome has been marked in any fixtures. The completed Bet Slip is processed through the Terminal, which will issue the Receipt recording of each Selection marked on the Bet Slip.
- Select one outcome per fixture on one or more of the boards on the bet slip.
- Select one, two or three outcomes for each fixture and then mark the box “MultiPlay” on the Bet Slip, with the total number of Boards not exceeding the maximum price for an Entry.
- Select a PROPICK functionality option that supports the Participants in selecting the fixture outcomes to enter with their Bet Slip, either by selecting one of the pre-determined Multi-Play boxes on the Bet Slip or by asking the Retailer for one of the pre-determined Multi-Play options.
Indicate in person to the Retailer the selected outcomes to be entered manually directly into the Terminal, either as single Boards or Multi-Play.
Through purchasing an Entry via the Site by Selection of fixtures outcomes for the specific Draw.
A limitation applies to selecting a PROPICK option and a simple Bet / Multi-Play on the same Bet Slip. In this circumstance, there will be no valid entry, where two options are chosen for one bet slip. However, a Participant may request a PROPICK option over the counter and use the Bet Slip to place their Selection.
Players who match 13, 12, 11 or 10 outcomes will share the winning Pool of that Prize Division.
SportStake Definitions
Take note that definitions will vary depending on whether the match is a (1), (X), or (2) type game.
- A (1) game is a home win, which means that you predict that the team noted first on the fixture list will win a certain fixture.
- A (X) game is a draw, which means you predict the two teams will finish with the same score in this fixture.
- A (2) game is an away win, which means that you predict that the team noted last on the fixture list will win a certain fixture.
If a Fixture is Abandoned or Cancelled
If a fixture is abandoned, cancelled, or starts before the end of the sale as published, every prediction bet for that SportStake fixture event would then be treated as a correct prediction. Fixture results will then be displayed with a ‘C’ for the cancelled fixture, an ‘E’ for the early fixture or an ‘F’ for both. Each wager with 1 of these letters next to it will be treated as a winning wager.
Buy SportStake Tickets
You can buy Sportstake tickets from any Lottery outlet Mondays through Fridays between 6:00 AM and 11:00 PM. Tickets are also on sale on Saturday between 6:00 AM and up to half an hour before the first announced fixture time.
Each fixture list will have twelve fixture listings. Teams participating in the fixtures will be listed as either part of a home or visiting team. The team mentioned first will always be the home team, whereas the second team will be the visiting team.
SportStake Jackpot Prizes
The SportStake prize fund is 50% of the net total sales. Division One will receive 35%, Division Two 20%, and Division 3 45%. If no one wins the prize, the jackpot will roll over.
However, it is necessary to mention that not all games work according to the abovementioned strategy. The most important thing is to learn exactly which formula works best. This is something you will fine-tune over time.
Good luck!
